The heart of the MT-01 is its engine - a massive, air-cooled, 1,670cc V-twin drumming out its own kind of heartbeat that will reverberate through motorcycling history. This is iconic sports performance like nothing else on the street, unleashing mega torque and a throbbing exhaust note from its long-stroke crankshaft, forged pistons, ultra-efficient pent roof combustion chambers and ceramic composite-plated cylinders.

TORQUE SPORTS FROM TICK-OVER TO REDLINE
This monumental V-twin has been tuned for Torque sports.
At low rpm the massive pulsing torque output delivers an instant rush of thrust. And at increased revs - peak torque arrives at 3,750 rpm - that thrust growls and swells to produce astonishing sports performance. The low-mass crankshaft encourages easy-revving performance, while the tall-ratio gearbox allows you to use the incomparable torque output to maximum effect. In other words, no matter what the revs are, the enjoyment is all yours with MT-01.

MINIMUM CHASSIS, MAXIMUM ENGINE
With a bike like the MT-01 the engine has got to be the centre of attention, so when we came to designing the frame we wanted it to be minimal, to allow the engine to rule, and yet great to look at.

Which is why we used our exclusive CF die-cast technology. This hi-tech process - developed by Yamaha - allows lighter, more intricate castings, giving us the freedom to create a weldless frame that is stiff, light, compact and stunning to look at. The upside-down truss-style swingarm - similar to the arm used on our YZF-R1 supersport weapon - is also cast aluminium for an optimum stiffness/flex ratio, contributing to the bike’s confidence-inspiring handling.

INHALE
The MT-01 breathes in and lives. Yamaha engineers focused special attention on the bike’s intake system, working to cram the delivery of fresh, dense air into those massive cylinders for a lusty, big-torque feeling. Air enters the large-capacity, variable intake downdraft airbox - neatly housed within the frame - to feed the digital fuel injection system, featuring twin-bore downdraft injectors for astonishing low-rpm performance and transient power characteristics.

EXHALE
The MT-01 lives and breathes out. It feeds on gasoline and air, the burned mix exhaling through a titanium exhaust system that maximises the MT-01’s pounding heartbeat. Superbly sculpted from large-radius curves for reduced exhaust-flow resistance, the exhaust system – featuring a muffler cover cooling system - uses Yamaha’s renowned Supersport-bred EXUP device, for enhanced low-rpm torque, and culminates in magnificent twin mufflers that emit a rhythmic, throbbing beat you can both feel and hear.

779cc, liquid cooled, inline 4-cylinder engine In order to arrive at the perfect power and torque spread for a mix of high performance and all-round usability, Yamaha threw out all preconceptions about engine size. The 1000cc and 600cc categories that largely divide the market are imposed by racing regulations, not road riding considerations. Many riders find 600cc supersport engines to be hard work on the open road - and 1000cc superbike engines to be overkill. Yamaha's engineers selected a 779cc engine displacement to provide the perfect balance between the accessible performance of a 600 and the broad, instant torque and power of a litrebike.

2010 Yamaha Fazer 8

The new FZ8-series engine is fuel injected, and uses both a throttle valve and an electronically controlled sub- throttle valve to provide additional control over intake airflow volume. The cylinder bodies have a bore and stroke from 68.0x53.6mm. Readings on engine rpm and throttle opening are processed in real time by the ECU, which operates a new stepping motor to control the sub-throttle valves and optimise volumetric efficiency in each part of the rev range. This is one of the many design considerations aimed at boosting low-middle drive. Another key to the FZ8-series motor's flexibility is found in the large-capacity 7.8 litre airbox, where the air intake funnels are two different lengths - cylinders 1 and 4 have 125mm intake funnels, where 2 and 3 are 150mm in length, producing an excellent spread of torque throughout the rev range.

The FZ8-series engine produces 106.2PS (78.1kW) at 10,000rpm, and a generous 82.0Nm of torque at 8,000rpm - with a character that feels light, torquey and responsive down low but builds to a signature Yamaha top-end power rush. It easily clears EU3 exhaust emission standards, using a short, side mounted muffler and a 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system with a honeycomb type catalytic converter fitted at the point where the header pipes meet. An oxygen sensor feeds real-time exhaust information back to the ECU, allowing the bike to constantly adjust its air/fuel mixture for optimum efficiency and clean emissions.

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. Press Release Chassis and running gear The FZ8-series features a new engine that is a stressed member in an all- aluminium frame. The design's high rigidity and low weight minimises frame torsion while providing outstanding high-speed stability and cornering confidence. The FZ8-series also uses a CF aluminium die-cast swingarm, enhancing the effectiveness of the rear suspension. Front-end suspension is a pair of upside-down forks, running 43mm inner tubes. Rear suspension is handled by a linked Monocross unit - the link being designed to provide soft, light suspension near the top of the stroke to deal with bumpy surfaces in comfort, but then to provide firmer cushioning as the shock is further compressed, for sharper handling during hard cornering. Front brakes are twin four-piston monoblock calipers, gripping 310mm floating front discs. Being monoblock designs, the calipers suffer minimal distortion under hard braking, so the stopping force is linear, stable and controllable when the chips are down. Both the naked FZ8 and semi-faired Fazer8 models are available with optional ABS.

The wheels are five-spoke cast aluminium rims - the front tyre is a 120/70 ZR17, and the rear is a 180/55 ZR17. This gives both bikes outstanding ride feeling, grip and cornering performance, with access to the full range of sports rubber. The riding position is sporty but comfortable, with a seat height of 815mm and a narrow tank which gives the rider a good ground access. Overall ride experience is compact and light, with generous room for manoeuvring. Steering is quick and responsive, with an extended 33-degree left-to-right steering angle - making tight U-turns and peak-hour traffic busting much easier. Muscular, mass-forward design The FZ8-series consists of two models - the naked FZ8 and the semi-faired Fazer8 with a front cowl and screen. A short muffler, narrow tank and new 3-part tank cover instantly distinguish these bikes from their peers. Visually, the FZ8 series evokes a pure release of energy in forward motion. The black side parts on the tank provide comfortable knee grip, and give the subtle impression that the coloured tank is breaking away and accelerating forward. The headlight unit on the naked FZ8 adds an aggressive-looking detail. In all, the visual impression is of a bike that looks fast even when it's standing still - and that sensually curved diamond frame and muscular 4-cylinder engine are still the stars of the show.

We expect the 2010 Yamaha FZ8 to feature its own unique powerplant, but wouldn’t be surprised if some of the tech from the R6 made it into the naked bike’s design. While the FZ8 is certain to hit the shores of the EU, its US arrival is less certain. We’d be surprised if it didn’t come to the USA though, considering the bike it replaces is sold here already.

Yamaha has a new innovation in the year 2010 The blacked out can looks good. It's kind of nice to buy a bike and have it stay pretty much the same for several years. Tends to keep the resale value up a bit. Can't quit figure out if the bike is so good it doesn't need any changes or because of the relatively poor sales they just don't want to spend much onminor changes right now.They should have made those parts black to begin with, looks much better. I defintiely prefer the gold header pipes on my 08 vs the silver pipes on the 2010.

Why not make the foot pegs black also?

In response to the Yamaha YZF-R6’s loss in power for 2009 due to changing emissions regulations, the boys in blue have tuned the 2010 model to try and get that power back. To achieve this, Yamaha “optimized the intake funnels and airbox”, while the diameter of the exhaust pipe is changed and the muffler is 100mm longer. Mated to this is a revised ECU. All is said to give improved performance in the low- to mid-range while maintaining its current high rpm performance.

" Crossplane crankshaft technology proven in victory after victory on MotoGP® machines provides a high-tech uneven firing interval. Unlike typical inline-four engine design, where the two outer and two inner pistons move together in pairs with 180° intervals, the crossplane crankshaft has each connecting rod 90° with a unique firing order of 270° - 180° - 90° - 180°. This overcomes the inherent fluctuations in inertial torque during each engine revolution, and the accompanying peaky torque characteristics. Instead, combustion torque continues to build, giving the rider more linear throttle response with awesome power and traction out of the corners.

" To maximize rider comfort as well as power output, the engine adopts a coupling-type balancer that rotates in the opposite direction as the crankshaft.

" This engine features forged aluminum pistons to take maximum advantage of the power characteristics. Titanium intake valves are lightweight.

" A forced-air intake system is adopted to increase intake efficiency by using the natural airflow during riding to pressurize the air in the air box. This contributes to outstanding power delivery characteristics in the high-speed range, while the design also helps to minimize intake noise.

" Slipper-type back torque-limiting clutch greatly facilitates braking/downshifting from high speed.

" The exhaust system is meticulously designed to enhance engine output while, thanks to its three-way catalyst technology, also reducing exhaust emissions. " This fuel-injected engine takes full advantage of YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), the MotoGP®-inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. There's also YCC-I, Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake, the variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. Fuel injectors have 12 holes for optimum fuel atomization that translates to the most power from every fuel charge.

" Have it your way, thanks to Yamaha D-MODE (or "Drive Mode") variable throttle control. There are three modes that control how YCC-T responds to throttle input from the rider. The selectable "A" mode puts more emphasis on engine response in low to midrange rpm. "B" mode, on the other hand, provides less sharp response to input for riding situations that require especially sensitive throttle operation. The standard map is designed for optimum overall performance. Selecting the map you want is as easy as pressing a button on the handlebars.

" The SOQI rear shock features both high and low speed compression damping plus an easy-to-use screw hydraulic adjustment for preload. This unit also adopts a pillow-ball-type joint for exceptional shock absorption, road hold feeling, and damper response. Liquid-cooled, 1,679cc, DOHC, 16-valve, 65°, V-4 engine has no equal in its class. The compact engine design has allowed the engineers to place the engine in the "sweet spot" of the frame to optimize handling.

DOHC 4-valve "pent roof" cylinder head design provides optimum breathing efficiency for incredible engine performance. Valve actuation is via under bucket shims. Compression ratio is 11.3:1.

Automatic hydraulic cam chain tensioners reduce engine mechanical noise.

Connecting rods are carburized and use a nut less design. The lower end "cap" of the rod is made from the same piece of material as the upper portion; this design is known as "fracture splitting". This design aids in establishing true big end roundness, greater precision in con rod dimensions and are extremely durable.

180-degree crankshaft design is utilized.

Gear-driven engine counter balancer shaft is used to reduce vibration and maximize rider comfort. The balance ratio is 50% to allow some pulse feel. Since the crank design is 180 degrees, there is also some inherent natural balancing effect as well.

Twin radiator design features a curved upper rad and lower flat rad for maximum cooling efficiency. Each rad has its own cooling fan.

An oil-to-coolant heat exchanger type oil cooler maintains stable lubricant temperatures for increased performance and extended engine life.

Wet sump oil lubrication system is used and features a spin-on cartridge-type oil filter.

Mikuni fuel injection system uses four 48mm throttle bodies fitted with T.P.S. (Throttle Position Sensor) and numerous other sensors. An oxygen sensor has been fitted into the exhaust making this a "closed loop" type FI system. The benefits include excellent throttle response, great fuel economy, reduced emissions, stable idling and no choke to fuss with during start up. The closed loop design means the system is constantly monitoring the fuel / air mixture and adjusting it as required for maximum performance plus reduced emissions.

Denso 12-hole injectors are used for excellent fuel atomization for maximum power and response across the entire rev range.

The VMAX utilizes a lightweight main Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that in fact consists of 3 - ECUs in total. The main 32-bit ECU controls the ignition and fuel injection process, while a 2nd and 3rd integral ECU controls the YCC-T & YCC-I. This "combined" ECU design reduces weight.

YCC-I or Yamaha's Chip Controlled Intake means the intake funnels / stacks vary in length (between 2 positions) depending on engine rpm. An electronic servo motor varies the funnel length from 150mm (for low to mid rpms) to the short setting of 54mm for high rpm. The transition or switching rpm between the 2 lengths is 6,650 rpms. The revolutionary YCC-I provides the best of both worlds, solid low rpm torque and power combined with an amazing high rpm rush. It takes only 0.3 of a second for the funnels to move from the tall to the short position.

Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved controllability at all rpms. This system features twin Throttle Position Sensors (TPS) and a D.C. motor driving the throttle valves. The YCC-T is used to provide even more control of the intake air volume for smoother torque character. The rider can "mechanically close" the throttles by simply closing the throttle twist grip.

Large capacity air box uses a viscous-type paper air filter.

Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh air into the exhaust port area to fully combust any un-burnt fuel, reducing harmful HC and CO emissions for a cleaner environment.

4-into-1-into-2 into-4 exhaust system is used. Not only does it make a serious styling statement but also provides excellent performance and reduced emissions thanks to a 3-way honeycomb catalytic converter in the under engine "muffler box". It also features Yamaha's patented Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve (EXUP). This system monitors engine rpm and adjusts exhaust flow (via the EXUP valve) for maximum performance at all rpms with no "flat spots". This system helps to improve torque, optimize fuel economy and reduce emissions too.

Crankcase design incorporates the cylinders into the upper half of the cases for reduced weight. Hydraulically activated, ramp-type slipper clutch featuring 10 friction plates is used to deliver consistent clutch performance with a light lever pull and minimal maintenance. A slipper or back limiter clutch assembly reduces rear wheel hop when making hard downshifts or under hard braking. The clutch master cylinder is a Nissin design using a 14mm piston. The clutch lever offers 4 positions of adjustability.

5-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for maximum acceleration and performance. 5th gear is an overdrive gear to reduce engine rpm at highway speeds for a comfortable ride.

Clean, quiet, smooth low-maintenance shaft drive is used. This system features dual "U" joints to accommodate the extra wide rear tire.

This is the first official picture ever seen of Yamaha's new 2009 V-Max - and you can see many more in Wednesday's MCN (May 28, 2008).

Original Yamaha V-Max review

The Yamaha V-Max won't be officially unveiled until June 4.

Although details are still sketchy, we're expecting the new Yamaha V-Max to be the world's fastest accelerating production motorcycle, regaining the title its forerunner held when it was launched back in 1984.

A standing quarter mile in under 10 seconds is expected, thanks to a massive V-four engine, expected to be at least 1800cc, and more than 200bhp.

Rx-100’s production was stopped way back in 1996 but still today you will hear one of them zip pass by you with its roaring sound and amazing pickup.According to me the scariest of the Rx series was the RXZ-5speed, with its uncontrollable huge ports it just roars its lungs out to give you the trip of your life.Though all the Yamaha 2 stroke bikes are out of production they can still be bought in second hand market, they(rxz5speed) can still beat any pulsar or apache on a drag race for sure!.Anyways summing up Yamaha’s 2stroke era!, Rx were fast, lightweight, noisy ! but in my words they were pure fun bikes.

Star Motorcycles USA has unveiled the new 2009 VMax.
The VMax first appeared in the market back in 1985. It is used to known for its powerful V4 engine, shaft drive, and distinctive styling. Since then it has received only minor updates and color changes. The Bike is offered for sale through the Star Motorcycles division of Yamaha Motorcycles. But in the new 2009 VMax9, Star has equipped the the bike with fuel injection, anti-lock brakes and many of the MotoGP-derived technologies.
The 2009 VMax has been equipped with Yamaha’s YCC-T chip-controlled throttle technology. It also has a hydraulically-activated ramp-style slipper clutch to keep downshifts as smooth and rider-friendly as possible. The chassis has been updated with a redesigned cast aluminum main frame. It has a round dial speedo and indicator lights are mounted on the handlebars. There is a virtual onboard computer mounted on the tank called the organic electro luminescence display. It contains an odometer, clock gear position indicator, stopwatch with many other features.
The bike is a limited edition offer. Star Motorcycles is only making 2500 of the 2009 version. Dealers are currently taking $1,000 down payments for the bike, which will be built to order. The order period is June 4 through October 31. Even with such a high price tag, the VMax has a strong fan following who will happily like to become the proud owner of this legend.

In 2008, Yamaha's street lineup is a tweaked YZF-R6S.The '08 version of the 600cc mount features a modified steeringgeometry, with rake decrease by a half-degree to 24 degrees even. The change in steering head angle has resulted in a shorter trail figure,with '08 measuring 0.3-inch less at 3.4 inches. The overall length and height of the new R6S have changes as well, with height 0.6-inch shorter (42.9 inches) and length 0.8-inch more petite (79.7 inches).The wheelbase is also exhibits a slight 0.2-inch decrease to 54.3 inches. The other noticeable change on the 2008 R6S is an increase to the front brake rotors from 298mm to 310mm. The $8,299 MSRP remains unchanged.

Finally, Yamaha V-ixion (Vixion) honored as Indonesian 2008 Motorcycle of the Year, beating 6 other finalist. As we report before, there 7 bikes which chosen as candidates for Indonesia Motorcycle of the Year (IMOY). They are bajaj Pulsar 200 DTS-i, Honda Beat, Honda Supra X125 PGM-FI, Honda Vario, Kawasaki Ninja 250 R, Suzuki Satria F150 and Yamaha V-IXION.
